JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate from an
accredited school of pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in
Pharmacy (BSPH) PharmD preferred.Must be licensed to practice
in the North Dakota. Can meet requirements based on reciprocity
of the state he/she resides or by taking and passing the required
examinations by the State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience: A minimum of five
years experience is required in Acute Care Hospital Pharmacy
Physical: Normal
hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal
range. Uses office machines including data processor. Frequent
sitting and walking.
JOB SUMMARY
Plans, organizes and directs all aspects of TRINITY HEALTH
Pharmacy. This includes adherence to all state and federal
laws governing pharmacy. It also includes following all policies
and procedures in accordance with established TRINITY HEALTH
policy subject to administrative approval. This person must
be familiar with professional and commercial phases of pharmacy.
They should have a working knowledge of pharmaceutical purchasing,
compounding, dispensing and control procedures. He/She should
understand the role of the pharmacy department in the hospital,
its interrelationships with other departments, and the functions
of a department head.
Position Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement job descriptions / performance reviews/
policies and procedures within the department.
* Responsible for all administrative duties such as hiring
and terminating employees, payroll, budget, and record keeping
functions.
* Maintain adequate staffing of the department
* Maintain cost-effective purchasing, ,inventory management
and appropriate storage of Pharmaceutical supplies
* Oversee in-service education within the department. Primary
emphasis
* Should be direction at age-specific training for all personnel.
* Maintain good working relationship with other departments
within the Medical Center.
* Be responsible for the dissemination of drug information
to the medical staff and nursing personnel.
* Maintain membership in appropriate state and/or national
professional organizations.
* Maintain a record of CE as required by State Board of Pharmacy.
In addition, participation in age-and disease-specific CE
is also required.
* Perform all duties in accordance with all departmental and
Trinity Health-wide policies and procedures.
* Participate / Direct Performance Improvement Activities
* Support all Clinical Areas with Medication Reconcilation,
Narcotic / Diversion monitoring, Appropriate antibiotic usage,
Core Measure Compliance, Pain Management
* Develop specific action plans to increase Patient Satisfaction
Scores as related to Medication Management
* Maintain competencies of all staff
* Meet all JC standards; meet all State and Federal Regulatory
standards
* Serve as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
* Other duties as directed by management.
