Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority, Columbus,

This authority is an interstate
compact, comprised of the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi
and Tennessee and ratified by the U.S. Congress to promote
the development of the Tenn-Tom waterway and its region.
Members of the Waterway Authority include the
four governors and citizens appointed by their governor from
each of the four states.
PROFILE
Salary Range: Dependent on qualifications with excellent benefits
(State of Mississippi retirement plan)
Length Of Position: Permanent basis
Accountable To: Board of Directors of the four-state area
JOB PROFILE
Experience with Economic Development or waterway development.
Person should have experience working with Local Board of
Directors. He/She must have good understanding of working
with local, state, and national governmental officials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Must be able to work across political party lines and develop
and nurture close working relationships with waterway stakeholders,
federal and state agencies, and members of the state legislatures
and the U.S. Congress and their staffs.
* Must be able to work behind the scenes with state and local
officials on transportation and economic development projects
in a discreet and confidential manner without the need of
public acknowledgement.
* Must be able to identify and address potential issues and
opportunities that could affect waterway development and be
a self-starter.
* Plan and conduct successful conferences, seminars and meetings
for the Authority.
