JOB TITLE: Director
of Sales Operations (D.O.)
DEPARTMENT: DSD Sales
RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Operating
Officer
SUMMARY
Overall responsibility for achieving sales dollar,
gallon, and profit goals for a specific area or areas, through
effective sales and people management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
1. Manage the day-to-day
activities of the team members in the area of responsibility.
A. Is responsible for the execution of Division Sales Goals
and P&L's.
B. Evaluate team, encouraging exceptional performance and
assures the following of corporate and legal guidelines when
policies or performance are not in accordance with Yarnell
standards.
C. Select and train new hires who will meet or exceed the
requirements of their respective position description, as
well as contribute to a positive, goal oriented team.
D. Support each Branch Manager and Route Driver, Preseller,
and Merchandiser within the area in accomplishing their individual
and branch goals and objectives.
E. Perform regular merchandising checks, corrects problems,
and trains team members when problems are pinpointed. Rides
with each RSR at least once each calendar year.
F. Plans and conducts division training meetings monthly.
G. Executes Roadnet Routing on a daily basis.

Operations Position Description
1 Performs administrative requirements
of position.
A. Effectively plan time by planning weekly activities in
advance.
B. Approves and supports team as needed in store sets, resets,
grand openings, food shows, demos, and other special events.
C. Completes required reports on a timely basis, and maintains
customer information, reports, and files in a neat and organized
manner.
D. Assists team members in analyzing and managing current
cabinet placement. Assures cabinet contracts are current and
cleaning is completed per Yarnell guidelines. Assists in relocating
cabinets if needed.
E. Seeks and reports competitive activities to corporate top
management.
2 Assure preventative
and needed maintenance is completed on all vehicles and equipment
(including cabinets) assigned to the division to assure safety,
cost controls, and maintenance of quality products.
A. Is on call for all alarms.
B. Assures that regular safety meetings are held to address
concerns and heighten awareness.
C. Addresses problems related to HHC's, computers, and printers
for effective performance of this equipment with as little
interruption of service as possible.
D. Assures all vehicles are maintained in good operating order
at all times.
3 Sharpens the saw on
a regular basis.
A. Attends corporate meetings and training sessions, as well
as key industry events as deemed necessary.
B. Learns new product information to effectively sell products
to accounts.
C. Evaluates needs and formulates annual goals to address
individual areas of growth.
D. Actively builds skill and knowledge level for advancement
in career and greater contribution to the company's success.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
1. 5+ years successful key account sales
experience in the grocery business. 3-5 years DSD experience
in the operations side. Preferred 5+ years proven management
experience in DSD environment.
2. PC literate and experience in main frame systems.
3. Must be able to lift 40# packages of frozen desserts occasionally.
4. Must be able to push a 2-wheeler dolly or rolling cart
with 200# of packaged frozen desserts up an incline of 5-10
degrees for a distance of up to 300 feet.
5. Must be able to work under conditions where temperatures
may vary from -15 degrees (in the refrigerated truck and the
store's freezer room) to 120 degrees (on the pavement of the
store parking lot) within a 5 minute period of time. Must
be able to work in temperatures of -15 degrees for up to 15
minutes continuous time.
6. Driving record which is approved for coverage by our current
vehicle insurer.
7. High school diploma or equivalent, and Bachelor's Degree
in marketing, sales, advertising or related area, or equivalent
proven dairy DSD experience.
8. Professional level communication skills. Able to speak,
read, and write business level correspondence and communicate
effectively to all levels of individuals.
9. Class B Commercial Driver's License required within 30
days of conditional job offer, and the written portion of
the test completed prior to job offer.
10. Hand dexterity.
